Welcome to Douglas County Chess Club

Our Goal

Douglas County Chess Club was founded in 2024 by a group of chess enthusiasts interested in advancing creative thinking through chess.  The overarching goal is to create a safe and fun environment, where all ages of chess players can experience camaraderie and the intellectually stimulating benefits of chess.

Our Vision and Mission

Our vision is to advance creative thinking through chess.  Our Mission is to provide a forum for the enjoyment and education of chess in Douglas County, Nevada.  We are pledged to operate exclusively for informational, instructional, recreational, and social welfare purposes.  As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we will foster the development of members by promoting the joy, education, and artistry of the game of chess.

Membership Benefits

Douglas County Chess Club meets Fridays from 3:00-5:00 at the Douglas County Public Library located at 1625 Library Lane, Minden, NV 89423.  Free for all!  Classes will be conducted occasionally ranging from beginner to expert.  Check out the Facebook page for exact dates.

Second Location Added in Stateline, NV

Douglas County Chess Club also meets Saturdays at the Kahle Community Center located at 236 Kingsbury Grade Rd., Stateline, NV 89449.  Free for all!  Free lessons are available ranging from beginner to intermediate.  Check out the Facebook page for exact dates.

Upcoming Tournament

Douglas County Chess Club will be having an open tournament February 21-22, 2025. This will be open to members and non-members. The format will be a 4 round Swiss System with an hour total allocated to each game. Games still in progress at the end of an hour will be adjudicated.
